What is Mannitol ?

Mannitol is a sugar alcohol that is easily soluble in water and is a white crystalline powder with a sweet taste similar to sucrose. Mannitol is a good diuretic in medicine, reduces intracranial pressure, intraocular pressure and treats kidney medicine, dehydration medicine, sugar substitute, and is also used as an excipient for tablets and a diluent for solid and liquid. In terms of food, the product has the least water absorption among sugars and sugar alcohols, and has a refreshing sweetness. It is used for anti-sticking of maltose, chewing gum, rice cakes and other foods, and as anti-sticking powder for general pastries.
